ACT / ARTIST (or Performer): The act or artist signed to the record label. Anything from a vocalist / group to an orchestra or cartoon character. MANAGER: Handles all business interaction for act / artist or songwriter, including but not limited to negotiating record, publishing and merchandising contracts, studios, producers, instrument sponsorship, roadcrew, hotels, visas and work permits. Manager is normally entitled to 20% gross of all artist earnings. LAWYER: Usually specialist music lawyer to represent act / manager. (Note - manager and artist require SEPARATE lawyers to negotiate management contract). ACCOUNTANT: Qualified accountant to oversee financial transactions and prepare tax statements. Note – Artist, Manager, Lawyer & Accountant are the Management Team.
